Stephen #3 (son of Stephen #2 and Margaret) “volunteered
to serve his country in a military way, seeing service with the National Guard
on the Mexican border from June 30, 1916 to January 24, 1917, and being among
the first to enlist from Dodge Center upon America's entrance into the World
War. He was a soldier in Company I of the 136th Infantry organized at Owatonna
from July 15, 1917 until October 25, 1917 when he was discharged because of ill
health.”
